The 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) officially kicks off on Saturday, August 2, with hosts Tanzania facing Burkina Faso in the tournament’s opening match.

The clash will take place at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, with kick-off set for 8 pm.

This year’s CHAN will run from August 2 to 30, with matches hosted across three East African nations—Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the tournament features national teams composed exclusively of players who compete in their home countries’ domestic leagues.

The opening game promises high energy as Tanzania looks to impress on home soil, while Burkina Faso eyes a strong start in the group stage.

With regional pride and continental glory at stake, CHAN 2024 is set to deliver thrilling football action.

Tanzania, also known as Taifa Stars have been to three CHAN tournaments, while The Stallions of Burkina Faso have been to four championships.
