Kenya has emerged among Africa’s leading countries in data centres and cloud service provision, underlining Nairobi’s growing reputation as a regional technology hub.
Data from Data Center Map shows Kenya has 19 data centres, ranking third on the continent behind South Africa’s 60 and Nigeria’s 22.
The report further indicates that Kenya hosts three cloud service providers, trailing Egypt’s five and South Africa’s 12.
Notably, 15 of Kenya’s 19 data centres are located in Nairobi, highlighting the capital’s dominance in digital infrastructure investment.
Experts say the growth reflects rising demand for cloud computing, digital storage and internet-based services across Africa.
