Independent Policing Oversight Authority has launched investigations into the shooting of a Maseno University student during Azimio la Umoja demos.
In a statement, IPOA also stated that the authority will also look into the incident where a man was seriously injured in Toi Market, Nairobi.
"While it is noted that the police largely operated with restraint and within the confines of the law, the Authority noted two incidents," the statement read.
The Authority also noted that some police officers were injured and property damaged in Monday's demonstrations
"IPOA strongly condemns the provocation witnessed from both the members of the public and politicians and calls upon them to abide by the law in exercising their constitutional right to demonstrate," the authority stated.
The government pathologist Dickson Mchana will conduct a postmortem on the body of the late William Mayenga who was shot dead during the Monday protests.
Ali Oballa who is in charge of the morgue said the body will remain untouched until the pathologist arrives.
The late Mayenga was a third-year student at Maseno University.
His father Joash Mayenga said he was yet to understand why his son was killed.
"My son was a calm person, very humble and I never expected this," he said.
Everline Miruka the student's mother said the security officers were to ensure they offer security to the learners.
According to a police report, during the protests, they invaded the Sairam supermarket, in Maseno town and other business premises along Kisumu-Busia road.
The report further indicated that they went ahead and lit bonfires and barricaded stones along the road.
"After some time, the students started pelting stones at the police line where they damaged window panes in ten houses and the police station", it read in parts.
