President William Ruto has hit out at Njambini women over reports that the area records the highest number of births in Nyandarua.
Nyandarua Governor Moses Badilisha had in his speech said his records show Njambini has the highest number of births in the county.
He said the Ministry of Health had promised to construct a maternity wing at Njambini health centre.
He requested Ruto who was in attendance, to help with upgrading the facility to a level 4 to help residents access timely quality healthcare services.
“The ministry promised us a maternity wing because this is where we give birth a lot,” the governor said.
He spoke during the burial of Mukami Kimathi.
In a rejoinder, President Ruto pledged Sh100 million towards upgrading the facility noting that the government had set aside an initial Sh20 million for the construction of a maternity wing at the facility.
He said he will ensure the hospital is well equipped to provide healthcare services so that the residents can ‘continue with the good working they are doing’.
He acknowledged the government had come up with the free maternity programme popularly known as Linda Mama to cushion women from hospital expenses but said they should give birth in moderation.
(Previously when we came up with Linda Mama programme which is still going on and said if a mother gives birth the government pays that does not mean it should be the only work you do, there must be a limit).
