A police officer was killed in an attack at a village in West Pokot County, which has sparked fears of more retaliation.

The body of constable James Rotino, 41, was found with deep stabs along Makutano- Chemoyet road within Chemoyet sub-location, police said.

Rotino was with his brother on Sunday evening and were riding on a motorcycle when they were attacked by a known suspect, police said.

The attacker who was also riding on a motorcycle stabbed the police officer in the neck and stomach while his brother was stabbed in the abdomen.

He was admitted to ICU where he is fighting for his life.

Police who attended the scene said they had not established the motive of the attack but they are looking for a known suspect.

The body was moved to the local mortuary pending autopsy, police said.

Tension is building in the village amid claims of planned retaliations from the family of the deceased.

Police say they are hunting for a known suspect and urged for patience.

In Tharaka Nithi, a police constable attached to the Central police station in Nairobi was killed in a fight with three men.

Constable Dickson Gitonga was attacked by three people while at Kathareni bar located in Kirubia area.

He was rushed to Chuka referral hospital where he succumbed on Sunday morning.

Police said they are looking for suspects behind the attack. It is believed some of the attackers are soldiers, police said.

Meanwhile, police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found dumped at a shopping centre in Molo Town.

The body was found alongside a sack of potatoes and police say he was killed elsewhere and the body dumped at the scene.

Locals reported the body was lying near a hotel in Kibunja area before police arrived there and picked it to the mortuary for identification and autopsy.

In Kures village in Rosoga location, Baringo County, one Koima Kiptoo drowned Sunday, in a pool of water along Kures-Kapcheluguni feeder road following heavy rainfall.

Police said they were called to the scene where the body was discovered and moved it to the mortuary.
