The case in which Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has been charged with misuse of a firearm in DJ Evolve’s alleged shooting will be mentioned today.

The case is coming up for submissions after all defence witnesses finished testifying in the case last month during the defence hearing of the case.

Felix Orinda alias DJ Evolve testified that he never saw Owino with a gun on the day he was shot.

Orinda told Milimani senior principal magistrate Bernard Ochoi that on the night of January 16 and 17, 2020, he met Owino at B club where they had conversations like old friends.

The DJ also confirmed to the court that Owino has been supporting him since the incident.

"Owino has been supporting me and continues to support me. I have received medical, utility and general well-being support. No other person has come to support me," he added.

He refuted the allegations that Owino used the firearm as it has never happened that a gun can be returned to its owner before leaving the club.

Charles Otieno, a security officer at Bclub confirmed that he is the one who kept Babu Owino's firearm at the club safe and gave the firearm back to Babu in the car while taking DJ Evolve to the hospital.

Obado's case on recovery of Sh73 million assets proceeds today

Elsewhere, the hearing of a case where EACC is seeking to recover Sh73 million in assets owned by former Migori Governor Okoth Obado will proceed today.

In their application, EACC argues that properties owned by Obado and his family were acquired by proceeds of corruption.

The commission is seeking the Courts nod to attach the governor’s multimillion shilling house-Loresho Ridge and luxury cars Land Cruiser V8 registration numbers KCK 997W and KCK 722B.

The loot, EACC holds, was acquired through a family and proxy network involving the governor, his children and close associates.

The commission said Obado, in abuse of his power as governor, amassed assets valued at Sh73.47 million procured from proceeds of dubious contracts with the county government.
