Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga has been charged with being in possession of rungus and other weapons.

He is, however, out on a cash bail of Sh100,000.

The former Mungiki leader appeared at the Madaraka Law Courts on Monday for his pre-trial.

He now claims that he knows the police are the ones who abducted him while in face masks.

Njenga has condemned his alleged abduction saying the government was elected to protect its citizens, not to attack and torture them.

He also told the media that his alleged abduction was because of his involvement in Mount Kenya politics.

Earlier, Njenga said he was released on Sunday evening after being driven to Banana estate and he was given Sh2,000 by one of his abductors to find his way home.
