ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna has challenged young political aspirants to take up the political seats of ODM rebel MPs.
Sifuna spoke on Tuesday when ODM party leader Raila Odinga held a meeting with young leaders at his office in Nairobi.
The Nairobi senator urged the young leaders to prepare to take up the positions of the rebel MPs ousted from ODM.
He said in case of a by-election the rebels will not get the support of ODM, adding that they cannot win without the support of Raila.
"In these constituencies, you have seen people who want to go and you know for a fact that without ODM, without the support of Baba, they are not going to come back," he said.
"You tell Baba if this person is unable to do his job then you are available and can do the job."
In September, the ODM Party National Executive Council okayed the removal of five rebel MPs from the party.
The five were Elisha Ochieng’ (Gem), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Tom Ojienda (Senator, Kisumu County) and Phelix Odiwuor - Jalang'o (Lang’ata).
They were accused of openly associating with and supporting the activities of a rival political party and for opposing lawful decisions and resolutions made by the party organs.
The NEC said for taking that stand, the lawmakers were deemed to have resigned from the ODM party.
Jalang'o said in an interview with TV47 that he will not resign from his position as the MP as the IEBC has not been reconstituted to conduct a by-election.
"I am strong enough to go back to the ballot box. But even as we speak we don't even have IEBC," he said.
"You resign now then you sit there waiting until IEBC will be created in 2026. That would be stupid of me, for lack of a better word."
