Court withdraws Sh71 million theft case against tycoon Parminder

Court withdrew the matter under section 87(a) of the criminal procedure code

A Nairobi court on Monday withdrew a case in which businessman Parminder Singh Manku had been charged with taking more than Sh71 million from his partners.

When the matter came up for mentioned before Milimani senior principal magistrate Robinson Ondieki, the prosecution told the court that the charges against Manku were civil in nature adding that the prosecution does not intend to proceed with the matter.

Parminder Singh Manku had been charged with three counts.

According to the defence they had argued that no money was ever removed or misappropriated from the company.

They further alleged that the charges were based on lies and were fabricated. 

Manku Singh was appointed a sole signatory to a current account by Lalji Meghji Patel directors via a board resolution.

The Court withdrew the matter under section 87(a) of the criminal procedure code.

The court further ordered that the cash bail he had deposited be released to the accused person.
