Duale lauds President Ruto for nominating him Defence CS

He served in the same ministry from October 2022 to July 2024 when Ruto dissolved Cabinet

Former Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has expressed his gratitude to President Ruto for nominating him for the similar position.

In a post on his X account, Duale has said that the nomination reflects President’s and Kenyan’s trust and confidence in his ability to advance the national security.

“This nomination reflects the President’s and the Kenyan people’s profound trust and confidence in my ability to advance our nation’s agenda and more particularly the national security of our nation hence contribute to its greatness," Duale said.

He has said that he is ready and willing to present himself to the National Assembly committee for vetting band public scrutiny.

“Am ready and willing to present myself to the relevant National Assembly for vetting and public scrutiny,” Duale said.

Duale has been the CS for the Defence ministry since October 2022 until July this year when President Ruto dissolved his Cabinet.

Duale has been renominated in Ruto's cabinet together with other 5 former CSs including  Kithure Kindiki (Interior) Alice Wahome (Public Works)  Davis Chirchir (Roads) and Soipan Tuya (Environment

He was a Leader of Majority Party in the National Assembly where he served in the 11th and 12th Parliament until July, 2020 (for 8 years). This is a senior government office within Parliament of Kenya that was established under the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.

He was first elected into parliament in the year 2007, re-elected in the year 2013, 2017 and 2022.

Duale was a Member of Parliament for Garissa Township Constituency and served as a ranking member in the Public Accounts Committee in the 12th Parliament.
