I’m glad to serve, Miano says after reassignment to the Tourism docket

Rebecca Miano has expressed gratitude for her appointment to the Tourism and Wildlife docket.

In a statement on X Miano thanked William Ruto for granting her another opportunity to serve in the Public Service.

"I sincerely thank H.E. President Dr William Ruto for granting me a fresh lease in Public Service," Miano said.

"I’m glad to have the honour, privilege, and opportunity to serve my fellow countrymen and women if Parliament approves."

Miano, who was the former CS for Investment, Trade, and Industry and in the first batch of Cabinet nominees released by Ruto last week, she had been nominated to the office of the Attorney General.

However, Ruto omitted Miano's name from the list of Cabinet nominees he submitted to Parliament for vetting on Tuesday, July 23.

“Honourable Members, Standing Order 42(1) relating to 'Messages from the President' provides that: ‘The Speaker shall read to the House any message from the President delivered to the Speaker for communication to the House’” Wetang’ula said.

"In this regard, I wish to convey to the House that I have received a message from His Excellency the President, notifying the nomination of various persons for appointment to the Offices of Cabinet Secretaries,” he added.

The other nominees named today include John Mbadi for National Treasury, Kipchumba Murkomen for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, Wycliffe Oparanya appointed for Cooperatives and MSME Development while Stella Langa't for Gender, Culture, Arts and Heritage

Justin Muturi was nominated to head the Public Service docket, Salim Mvurya was nominated for Investments, Trade and Industry while Alfred Mutua was picked for Labour and Social  Protection. Former Mombasa governor Hassan Joho was nominated to head the Mining and Blue Economy.
