ODM will have to nominate a member of the National Assembly if John Mbadi's nomination as Cabinet Secretary for Treasury is approved by the National Assembly.

President William Ruto nominated Mbadi to the Cabinet on Wednesday. Mbadi has been serving as a nominated MP.

There are 12 members nominated by each parliamentary political party to represent the special interests of youth, persons with disabilities and workers.

ODM nominated Mbadi to represent workers in the 13th Parliament.

The party member who is next in line to represent workers was John Antira Ketora.

The fourth person for nomination is Harold Kimuga, but he represents persons with disability.

The next person representing workers is Kentora, who will be Mbadi’s replacement. He is number eight on the list.

The two members ahead of him are Mary Mwami and Abdul Wahab but they represent persons with disabilities and the youth respectively.

Once the list is submitted to the IEBC, it cannot be altered until the next election.

Mbadi, who is also ODM national chairman, pulled out from the Homa Bay governor race in the 2022 elections and was later nominated to the National Assembly.

Mbadi dropped his bid just a day after the party announced that it would adopt consensus in some areas to avoid fallouts.

He was set to battle out for the party's ticket with Woman Representative, Gladys Wanga, now the Homa Bay governor.

He left tongues wagging when he withdrew from the race saying he wanted to concentrate on Raila’s presidential campaigns.

Mbadi was the MP of Suba South Constituency in the 12th Parliament where he also served as the Leader of the Minority Party
