Decomposed body of missing clinician found in his house in Makindu

 Detectives are investigating the death of a clinical officer whose decomposed body was discovered in his house in Makindu area, Makueni County.

The deceased was identified as Shem Mali, 36, and worked as a clinical officer at the Makindu Medical Hospital.

His body was discovered in the house by his neighbours who said had perceived a foul smell emanating from his house.

He had not been seen for days until July 30 when the body was found, police said.

Police officers visited the scene, where they found the body of the deceased lying on the bed with no visible injuries but had decomposed.

He lived alone, police said.

The cause of the death is yet to be known.

The body was moved to the Makindu Subcounty Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.

Elsewhere, police are investigating the suspected murder of a 49-year-old woman whose body was found in a bush in Kahawa West area, Nairobi.

The woman was identified as Rose Njoki, police said.

Her half-naked body was found at the scene on Wednesday evening by pedestrians.

She seemed to have been killed elsewhere and body dumped there.

Police said the body had visible head injuries with blood stains and signs of strangulation with both hands and mouth tied with a piece of cloth.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations into the incident, police said.

The motive of the murder was not immediately established.

In Kasarani, police said they are investigating the suspected drowning of a 46-year-old man whose body was found in a river at Githural roundabout.

The body was retrieved from the river and upon a quick search, an identification card bearing the name Moses Mungai Kimani was found in his trousers.

The scene was processed and documented, whereby the body with no visible injuries was taken to the City mortuary awaiting autopsy.

Meanwhile, a 26-year-old man was allegedly killed in a quarrel over land in Kibirichi, Getare, Keroka.

Eric Mose Ongau succumbed to injuries sustained while being attended to at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.

The incident happened on July 27, police said.

A suspect known and linked to the murder is on the run, police said.

He is said to have stabbed Ongau in the head during a quarrel.

The body is preserved at the same hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.

In Gesonso’s Mwakibanga village within Bugiakumu sublocation, a 34-year-old woman identified as Everline Kerubo Moranga died by suspected suicide in her house.

Her body was hanging on a truss in the bedroom with a mosquito net around her neck.

A smartphone that the deceased communicated with an unknown person before taking her life was recovered at the scene, police said.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and probe.

Cases of suicide have been on the rise amid calls for action to tame the trend.
