Mount Kenya University has partnered with Germany and Austria institutions in the provision of healthcare training opportunities for its students.
Nursing students from MKU will travel to Germany for an apprenticeship programme at the University of Koblenz under the programme.
The opportunity, supported by the German government's development agency DAAD, allows students to gain hands-on experience in German hospitals.
Additionally, the programme extends to Austria through a collaboration with Lebenshilfe Tirol, offering further opportunities for apprenticeships.
The programme emphasises on linguistic proficiency by recognising the importance of communication.
One of the requirements for the programme is for participating students to become proficient in the German language
Led by Charlotte Katharin Filbry, the training ensures students are well-prepared to navigate their new environment and maximise their learning experiences.
MKU's commitment to providing its students with unparalleled international exposure is further demonstrated by additional initiatives.
The university is pioneering the establishment of the Malindi Maritime Academy, a centre for e-sports training and an innovation and incubation centre supported by a World Bank-funded grant.
The endeavours aim to equip students with diverse skills, opening up a world of opportunities beyond the classroom.
As it celebrated its 25th graduation ceremony, MKU founder and chairman of Board of Directors Prof Simon Gicharu announced unconditional release of certificates to graduates previously unable to collect them due to financial constraints.
The move was geared towards supporting graduates in securing employment, reflecting MKU's dedication to its students' success and the broader community.
