Internal Security and National Administration Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo wants the public to support disciplined and uniformed officers in their daily operations.
Omollo said the agencies perform complex work that requires the public's support to succeed.
“They are the face of all you see in terms of stability and security of the country. They need the support to succeed,” he said.
He made the remarks at the Holy Family Basilica in Nairobi during the National Thanksgiving service for uniformed and disciplined services and their families. National Police Service Commission Chairperson Eliud Kinuthia led the Commission at the event.
Kinuthia said the prayers strengthen the counselling and psychosocial support services rendered by the commission. He appealed for a sober discussion on command responsibility calls.
He noted that the existing framework on discipline advocates for personal responsibility for misconduct undertaken by an officer. Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja said the event provides a platform to reflect on the service offered by the discipline and uniformed officers in a bid to build resilience and improve service delivery.
“It motivates the members in many ways to perform their duties,” he said. The Joint prayers were presided over by Bishop George Muthaka and were themed ‘God Strengthens and Keeps Secure’.
