In a gripping scene captured at Tsavo West National Park, a yellow baboon was seen struggling for survival after becoming trapped in the jaws of a crocodile.
According to Daily Mail, the dramatic photos show the
baboon desperately trying to escape as the crocodile drags it under the water
near the Tsavo River, which flows through the park.
The images depict the courageous fight of the small
monkey, whose arm is firmly held by the croc, as it battles to break free from
its predator’s deadly grip.
Despite the croc's powerful hold, the baboon is seen
putting up a brave struggle in the face of certain danger.
The dramatic confrontation between the two animals was
captured by a photographer witnessing the raw intensity of nature in the wild.
Nicolas Urlacher, who teaches Spanish in Nairobi, was
the photographer behind the pictures.
The monkey appears to be attempting to flee from its
predicament as the primate lunges towards dry land - seemingly crying out in
pain.
In the picture, the crocodile is seen pulling the
baboon under the water and it appears as though the fight is over.
In a remarkable twist, however, the monkey somehow
managed to escape from the water and flee before it could become the crocodile's next
meal.
However, the
determined croc managed to inflict a nasty gash on the monkey's cheek.
