Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has said that the government is committed to creating opportunities for Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) graduates in the country and abroad.
According to Kindiki, the government will do this through the International Labour Mobility program.
He said he is aware that the graduands have undergone rigorous training with focus on 70 per cent clinical and practical learning, as well as 30 per cent theoretical learning.
The Deputy President said this balanced approach to training ensures that KMTC students are not only market ready but also competent.
He said this makes them highly valued both locally and internationally.
“The government's International Labour Mobility program will serve as an additional opportunity to support graduands who would want to explore employment options abroad. We remain deeply committed to creating jobs for our young people and KMTC is playing its part in this agenda.
“I am informed that the college equips students with skills necessary to transition into local and international job markets. Programs such as the National Council Licensure Examination Training for those seeking opportunities abroad, basic language courses and pre-departure training to ensure our graduates are competitive globally,” Kindiki said.
He encouraged the graduating class to always be disciplined even as they fly the country’s flag high, wherever they will be working in the future.
Kindiki spoke on Thursday when he presided over the 93rd Graduation of the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC).
The DP reiterated that the Government will continue to create opportunities for the market ready graduands coming out of our healthcare institutions.
He added that this will also be done by exploring partnerships abroad.
Kindiki further noted that professionals in the medical field are also vital to achieving the Universal Healthcare vision.
Health Cabinet Secretary Dr. Deborah Barasa, Principal Secretary for Public Health Mary Muthoni, KMTC Board Chairman Joseah Cheruiyot, KMTC CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch and other key players in the health sector were present at the ceremony.
