President William Ruto on Wednesday hosted church leaders at State House, Nairobi.
The Evangelical and Pentecostal church leaders were led by Redeemed Gospel Church Presiding Bishop Kepha Omae.
President Ruto in a statement following the meeting said that church leaders and the state have always worked together to ensure there is unity.
He said during the meeting, they committed to continue with this partnership.
“Religious faiths and the State serve the same people and have always worked together in ensuring national cohesion and providing social services, including education, health and helping the vulnerable. We commit to maintain this partnership,” Ruto said.
The meeting comes after weeks of sustained calls by a section of church leaders over what they termed as the current administration taking the country in the wrong direction.
Other churches even returned money donations made by the President and other elected leaders for church projects.
