Kenya Power and Lighting Company has confirmed power supply has been fully restored to all affected areas following a widespread outage earlier.
In a statement released at 7:35 am on Wednesday, KPLC said it has restored power to all affected areas.
The KPLC technical teams had worked throughout to rectify the outage and were able to restore power to thousands of customers across the country.
"We are glad to report that power supply has been restored to all areas affected by the widespread outage," the statement read in part.
"We appreciate our customers' understanding during the restoration exercise," the statement added.
The blackout, which began late Tuesday night, left most areas without power.
Immediate restoration efforts saw power restored to most affected areas by 5 am.
The power utility company said measures will be taken to avoid such disconnections in the future to assure the customers.
"We remain committed to ensuring a stable and reliable power supply to all our customers," the company said.
The outage was reported at 1:28 am on Wednesday, and it affected a huge number of households, businesses, and institutions.
Kenya Power also issued a statement at 4:55 AM where it announced that power had been restored to some regions in the country.
"We are pleased to report that power has been restored to most parts of North Rift, Central Rift, Western Kenya, South Nyanza, and sections of Nairobi and Mount Kenya regions following a widespread outage,"
By 7:35 am, KPLC had confirmed that power had been fully restored to all the affected areas.
