Ruto’s new CS nominees to be vetted in January

National Assembly

President William Ruto’s new Cabinet Secretary nominees will be vetted by the Committee on Appointments on January 14, 2025.

In a schedule released by the National Assembly Clerk Samuel Njoroge, the exercise will take place at County Hall, within Parliament Buildings.

The three include Mutahi Kagwe (Agriculture and Livestock Development), William Kabogo (Information, Communications and the Digital Economy) and Lee Kinyanjui (Investments, Trade and Industry).

Also scheduled for vetting are the new Ambassador nominees who include former CSs Margaret Nyambura, Dr. Andrew Karanja and Ababu Namwamba, as well as former Deputy Inspector General Noor Gabow.

The four will be vetted by the Departmental Committee on Defence, Intelligence And Foreign Relations.

President Ruto nominated them to serve in Ghana, Brazil, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)/United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) and Port-au-Prince, Haiti respectively.

They will be vetted on January 10, 2025 at the Committee Room 9, 1st Floor, Main Parliament Buildings.

The Departmental Committee on Labour will also vet eight nominees to the Public Service Commission (PSC) including vice-chairperson Mary Kimonye, on January 9, 2025.

The National Assembly Clerk called on members of the public to submit any representations they may have, by way of written statements on oath (affidavits) with supporting evidence contesting the suitability of the candidates nominated to the above offices.

“The memoranda may be forwarded to the Clerk of the National Assembly, P.O. Box 41842-00100, Nairobi; hand-delivered to the Office of the Clerk, Main Parliament Buildings, Nairobi; or emailed to [email protected] to be received on or before 3rd January 2025 by 5.00 p.m.” Samuel Njoroge said.
