Deputy President Kithure Kindiki recently showed off his dancing skills on Tuesday as he jammed to Mwana by Tanzanian artist Ali Kiba.
In a video that has surfaced on social media, Kindiki was on stage during an event in the Coast region when the MC asked the DJ to put on the music.
“DJ weka kitu. Aya vijana wawili watatu waje (DJ put some song on. Okay, now two or three young people come (to stage),” the MC said.
He asked the young dancers to go easy on Kindiki as he joined them.
The DP would then swing alongside the dancers to the first three stanzas of the song.
Mwana is a popular track known for its catchy beat and heartfelt lyrics.
It was released as part of Ali Kiba’s 2017 album Alaive.
Prior to the evening of fun, Kindiki had visited Shimoni Fish Port in Kwale County, which is expected to be completed by March 2025.
The Sh2.6 billion port encompasses the construction of a modern jetty, fish landing site, a warehouse to host a fish processing plant, a cold storage and ice-making plant, a fish meat plant, and other support amenities.
The DP had also visited the Likoni Ferry Crossing in Mombasa County.
A few days ago, during the New Year’s Eve dinner in Kisii State Lodge, President William Ruto also danced to the song Kasongo.
The room was filled with cheers and laughter as Ruto danced to the song that has lately gained traction on social media, with a section of online users using it to refer to his administration.
Two days later, on Friday, Ruto, who was addressing criticism he has received recently, said he had no qualms with the nicknames used by Kenyans to refer to him.
“Hio Kasongo ni sawa. Ni wimbo mzuri sana ambayo ilikuwa inaendelea, so hio Kasongo tuendelee nayo (That Kasongo song is fine; it’s a very good song, so let’s keep playing it),” he said during a burial ceremony in Bungoma.
