The Kenya Railways has announced an end to the additional Kisumu Train trips introduced during the festive season.
In a statement, Kenya Railways said the train said they would resume their normal schedules for Fridays and Mondays.
“We wish to inform our esteemed customers that the Kisumu Safari Train has reverted to the normal weekly schedule. The train will depart from Nairobi Central Station for Kisumu every Friday at 5:30 pm and make its return trip from Kisumu to Nairobi every Sunday at 6 pm.
“Please note that the additional seasonal trips introduced for the festive period have now ceased. We thank you for choosing Kenya Railways and look forward to serving you,” the service said.
This comes after about a month of additional train schedules to Kisumu that depart from Nairobi Central Station on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 4 pm, from December 19, 2024.
Trains to Nairobi departed from the Kisumu Railway Station on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays at 6:30 pm.
Kenya Railways increases trips to Kisumu to help ease the traffic congestion that is usually experienced on Kenyan roads during the festive season.
It has become a tendency for many Kenyans to be caught in traffic especially those travelling to Nyanza and Western Kenya regions due to overlapping.
