Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has condoled the family of Laikipia Senator John Kinyua following the death of his father William Nderitu.
In a statement, Gachagua described Mzee Nderitu as a man who was dedicated to his family.
He said the late served as a healthcare officer in various places under the Ministry of Health before he retired.
“It is with a heavy heart that I have learned the passing on of Mzee William Nderitu Kinyua, the father of Laikipia Senator John Kinyua," Gachagua said.
“Mr. Nderitu was a retired healthcare officer and served in various areas under the Ministry of Health. He was also firmly dedicated to his family."
He prayed for comfort to the family and friends, even as they came to terms with the passing of Mzee Nderitu.
“May God comfort the family and the great people of Laikipia during this difficult moment.”
Mzee Nderitu’s death was announced on Saturday by Senator Kinyua.
In his announcement, the Laikipia senator said that he had lost his pillar of strength but exuded confidence that all would be well.
“Goodbye Dad, Mr William Ndiritu. Our Family's Patriarch, My pillar of Strength. Sad, but It is well. R.I.P,” the Senator wrote on Facebook.
Kinyua is one of the Mt Kenya leaders allied to the impeached DP.
