Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has said that, together with other leaders, they fully support President William Ruto's bid to unite the country.

Speaking in Mandera on Tuesday, Kindiki said they are all for one united country and equal development across all parts of Kenya.

“Your Excellency, together with all the people you have given the responsibility of helping you run government support you in your quest to unite our country. We will stand for one Kenya, we stand for the unity of the people of Kenya and equal development of all parts of Kenya. That is the clarion call and we are solidly behind you,” he said.

The Deputy President insisted that national unity is critical to ensure that equitable development for all is achieved.

He added all the development the Kenya Kwanza administration has initiated is of no good if there cannot be peace and unity.

“To ensure the country gets equitable development, national unity is important. The Roads and hospitals we are building, the electricity we are connecting is not good enough unless the people of Kenya live in peace and unity,” Kindiki said.

The DP is among leaders who have accompanied President William Ruto for his three-day tour of the North-eastern region.

Others are Environment Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale as well as local leaders.

The tour began with an inspection tour of Mandera Teachers Training College before he went on to address residents at the Moi Stadium in Mandera.

“We are enhancing infrastructure in learning institutions and recruiting more teachers in the North Eastern region just as we are doing across the country to improve access to education. This will ensure learners have equal opportunities, foster equity and ensure that no one is left behind,” President Ruto said.

Barely two weeks ago, Ruto and his deputy Kindiki held a week-long tour of the Western Kenya region where they launched several projects.
