President William Ruto on Wednesday night hosted leaders from Wajir County to discuss various issues including infrastructural projects and universal health coverage in the region.

During the meeting, he called on leaders to stay away from retrogressive politics.

“Leaders have a duty to unite Kenyans and steer them away from retrogressive politics that slow our transformation agenda,” said Ruto.

Also present at the meeting were Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Cabinet Secretary For Defence Aden Duale among other Wajir leaders.

The president said his government is committed to accelerating development and improving livelihoods.

On Tuesday night, the president also hosted some leaders from Mandera County.
