Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba now says that she will not vie for any elective seat using the ruling UDA party ticket.

Speaking on Wednesday, Wamuchomba insisted that in whatever position it will be, the UDA party will not be an option for her.

“I was elected under the UDA party. I am not going to vie again under UDA that I must declare. If I ever vie for whatever position, God willing I am not going to use UDA party ticket because UDA has betrayed me,” she said on Citizen TV.

The legislator said that while she had high expectations with the leadership of UDA that has turned out not to be the case.

Wamuchomba said she has been opposed to the policies of the Kenya Kwanza administration because President Ruto has not been consulting leaders who campaigned for him, including herself.

“I did not campaign for President Ruto as my President to invade people’s pay slips and force them into serious mandatory deductions on their pay slips and that is why you see me opposing him in Parliament. This is because I believe whatever he is doing, he is doing on his own he has not consulted me as one of those who were his chief supporter and campaigner," she said.

The MP added that she remains a member of the UDA just because it is the party that sponsored her to parliament.

She further stated that she does not agree with many of the policies they have implemented over the last two years.

Wamuchomba noted that it is time Kenyans realised that political parties are full of con games because, in the end, the leaders turn against the people once elected.

“I think it’s time we realise that these political parties are con games. Sometimes people come to ask for votes on certain vehicles only for them to turn around against people who supported them. UDA came in and told us that we were going to have pesa mfukoni, guaranteed minimum returns (GMR), where did it go? Where is GMR for my coffee, avocado, tea and milk farmers?

“I am done with UDA on matters related to the next elections. I am in UDA right now because I am sponsored by the party in the National Assembly but I am not in agreement with the many policies they have implemented to suppress the economy and the livelihoods of Kenyans people,” Wamuchomba said.

This comes even as she has on several occasions been seen in events organized by ousted Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua.

She, however, said that she is still looking for a leader who will have a plan that will people-centric.

He said this person must also encompass her principles and expectations for the next government.
