Met: Sunny, hot weather to continue across country

The Kenya Meteorological Department has said sunny, dry and hot conditions are expected across most parts of the country.

It however added that there may be occasional light rainfall in isolated areas around Mount Kenya, the Coastal region, Lake Victoria Basin and the South-Eastern Lowlands (near the Coast).

In a forecast between Tuesday, February 18, and Monday, February 24, Met said daytime temperatures above 30°C will be experienced in many areas.

This is except for Central Kenya, Central and South Rift Valley, South-Eastern Lowlands and Lake Victoria Basin, where temperatures will likely remain below 30°C.

Night-time temperatures below 10°C are expected in some areas of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, Central and South Rift Valley and around Mount Kilimanjaro.

Further, strong South Easterly winds of more than 25 Knots (12.9m/s) are expected over parts of the Northeastern and Northwestern parts of the country.

At the Lake Victoria Basin, the Central and South Rift Valley, and parts of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, sunny intervals are expected during the day, while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.

However, a few areas over the Lake Victoria Basin may experience occasional afternoon showers.

The North Rift Valley and parts of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley will have sunny intervals during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy

North-western Kenya (Turkana and Samburu counties) will have sunny conditions during the day, and nights are likely to be partly cloudy, though some nights may experience clear skies.

It will be sunny during the day with partly cloudy, or clear skies at night, in the North-eastern region.

The Highlands East of the Rift Valley (including Nairobi County) will have daytime sunny intervals, which will prevail throughout the week.

However, a few areas around Mount Kenya are likely to experience occasional afternoon showers. Nights are expected to be partly cloudy.

The southeastern lowlands will have sunny intervals during the day.

However, a few areas bordering the Coast may experience occasional light afternoon showers.

Nights are expected to be partly cloudy.

The Coast (Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale Counties, as well as the coastal parts of Tana River) will experience sunny intervals during the day, with occasional light afternoon showers possible in a few areas.

Nights are expected to be partly cloudy.
