Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has hailed Nyeri residents for showing up in numbers to receive President William Ruto on Tuesday.

In a statement after the visit, Sudi who had accompanied the president and his deputy Kithure Kindiki, among other leaders said he was moved by their determination.

He said the people of Nyeri county, the home turf of deposed Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, had risen above division.

The legislator said that they had instead chosen hard work and progress.

Sudi commended the people of Nyeri for choosing unity over chaos and tribal politics.

“I am deeply moved by the huge turnout and determination shown by the people of Nyeri. You’ve risen above narrow divisions, focusing on hard work and progress.

“While others spread chaos and tribal talk, you’ve chosen unity, coming together to move forward. Asante sana Nyeri,” Sudi said.

The legislator has been a great critic of Gachagua.

In many instances, he has been engaged in online spats with leaders allied to Gachagua.

The Kapseret MP’s words followed the beginning pf President William Ruto’s week-long development tour of the Mt Kenya region.

There were fears over how the reception of President Ruto would be in the Mountain.

The tour started in Laikipia county on Tuesday, where the President launched and commissioned a series of projects.

The tour ended with a stop in Narumoru, Nyeri county, were the Head of State got to address a multitude of residents.

In Mwicwiri, Ruto flagged off the Last Mile Connectivity Programme worth Sh850 million, which will connect 10,000 households in Nyeri County to power.

He said an additional Sh550 million will be provided to ensure every citizen in the county is connected to electricity.

He also opened a one-storey, 12-classroom tuition block at Narumoru Township Primary School, and assessed the ongoing development of Narumoru Market, which is set for completion within one month.

During his tour of Mt Kenya, the President will be operating from the Sagana State Lodge, in Nyeri.
