National Assembly Majority leader Kimani Ichung’wah/HANDOUT
Speaking in Kajiado on Friday, Ichung’wah said the people of Kajiado want to live in peace, and therefore the politics of division has no place in their community.
“We have seen them come to Kajiado. Tell them not to bring the politics of ethnicity and division among the people of Kajiado. People of Kajiado want to live in peace,” he said.
The Kikuyu MP went on to say that the opposition must also stop making President William Ruto their agenda, insisting that the people want development.
He noted that the Ruto these opposition politicians want gone is the one building affordable houses for the people, constructing roads, and creating jobs for many young people.
Ichung’wah said it is time they start selling their agenda to the people and what they intend to do should they get elected into office.
“The other day I saw them in Mlolongo and Kitengela, and I listened to them speak, and they said their agenda is Ruto must go. Tell them the Ruto they are saying must go is the one constructing markets, affordable housing, and roads.
“Ruto is not on the agenda for the people of Kajiado. Anyone coming to do politics here should tell you his plan for the people and his manifesto,” he said.
He had accompanied Kajiado Woman Rep, Leah Sankaire, and a host of other leaders during an NGAAF event aimed at empowering women and youth across the county.
Ichung’wah’s remarks come even as opposition politicians led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka lead the charge against the current administration.
They have been traversing the country, especially the Mt. Kenya region and Eastern in a bid to woo the masses to back their bid.
Gachagua has also been meeting regional leaders, including grassroots leaders, ahead of the launch of his own party.
