US President Donald Trump described his recent conversations over the phone with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky as very good.

"We had two very good phone calls and I do believe a deal will be worked out so we can stop the bloodshed that’s taking place over there," Trump told Breitbart News in an interview.

The US leader said his aim was to "put these two countries together" and lower the US cost of support to Kiev.

"I also want to stop massive payments that are necessary to be made by us. I also want Europe to pay the same as us because they weren’t able to do that under [former US President Joe] Biden and Biden never asked that because Biden was a grossly incompetent president," Trump shared.

The Russian and US leaders held a telephone conversation on Tuesday to discuss a 30-day ceasefire in the Ukraine conflict, conditions for preventing escalation, and some international topics.

The Russian president agreed with the White House proposal about mutual refusal of the parties to the conflict in Ukraine from attacks on energy infrastructure.

On Wednesday, Trump held a phone call with Zelensky.
