Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated the participants in a meeting held in honour of the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and Belarus, emphasizing the shared historical destinies and spiritual and moral values of both nations.
"I warmly congratulate you on the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and Belarus - a celebration that symbolizes the unbreakable bonds of fraternal friendship between our peoples, as well as the commonality of our historical destinies and shared spiritual and moral values. In the current challenging international climate, the collaborative efforts by Russia and Belarus are vital to strengthening the defence capabilities and ensuring the security of the Union State," reads the message posted on the Kremlin's website.
Putin noted that over a quarter-century of efforts to build the Union State, the two countries have achieved significant progress in developing Russian-Belarusian ties and promoting mutually beneficial integration.
The results of these efforts are evident in all aspects of life.
"Citizens of Russia and Belarus enjoy equal rights in medical care, education, social and pension insurance, as well as in choosing their place of residence and employment. Productive trade and economic, scientific, technical, and humanitarian cooperation, along with connections through parliaments, regions, and cities, are expanding," he added.
The Russian president specified that Russia and Belarus consistently defend their legitimate foreign policy interests and collaborate with international partners to establish "a fairer multipolar world order."
He emphasized that the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, along with the preservation of the achievements of the victorious generation, undoubtedly strengthens the common resolve of both nations to resist any manifestations of neo-Nazism and to contribute in every possible way to ensuring peace and security around the globe.
Putin expressed confidence that constructive Russian-Belarusian relations will continue to develop actively across all fronts.
"This fully aligns with the interests of the peoples of Russia and Belarus," he added.
He also wished the participants of the event success and all the best.
