The position of ODM is very clear: we have to support the broad-based government.
It was even clearer on Saturday when we had a meeting when were supposed to go to church with the President.
It was unanimous that we have to support the broad-based government of President William Ruto.
Senator Edwin Sifuna tried to impose his views but the majority prevailed.
He was told the party has its membership and leaders, so he cannot decide for us just because he is the party’s secretary general.
He is just the voice of the party sometimes but he is not the mind of the party.
What we know is that we are fully in support of the broadbased government.
Those people who are opposing have their own ambitions. Like Senator Sifuna wants to be the Nairobi governor and he thinks without the Mt Kenya vote he cannot be Nairobi governor.
Everybody here (in ODM) has their own schemes, which they are trying to put in place.
People who are not overly ambitious are aligning on the ODM policy of supporting Ruto to achieve his dream.
It will be very wrong for us to destabilise this government and remove it from power midway. It is only fair we let them continue and finish their term.
If anybody is going to impress us in 2027, let them convince us with proper policies they have put in place. You cannot just say one or two communities coming together to remove Ruto.
There is no compelling reason for us to remove Ruto now. He has a five-year term and he has not been able to even sit down for one-and-half years.
Destabilisation of the government is a scheme by some people to ensure he doesn’t achieve his mandate, which I think is very unfair to him.
It is only fair to leave him achieve his term, ODM as a party is very much aligned. We have people serving in his government who are former leaders of the party.
