Faith Kipyegon and Mary Moraa were today awarded Sh2 million each after bagging gold in their respective specialties in the recently concluded World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
The Awards ceremony was held at the Talanta Hela Plaza in Upperhill, Nairobi.
President William Ruto and Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Sports and the Art, Ababu Namwamba graced the memorable event.
Moraa won gold in 800m beating favorites Athing Mu and Keely HoHodgkinson.
Kipyegon managed double gold in 1,500m and 5,000m respectively to crown a five-star performance in the Hungarian capital.
The President shared warm embraces with the duo for their exemplary performances and once again put Kenya on the global map as an athletics powerhouse.
