Kenyan giants Tusker FC had their last training session in Kampala, Uganda, ahead of their opening pre-season friendly against Mbale Heroes on Tuesday.

The brewers arrived in Kampala on Sunday after three weeks of training at Ruaraka where new signings had time to gel and understand each other.

Interim coach Charles Okere said they had a light shake-down training session Monday morning to set the tone for what’s to come for the whole week.

“This is an important part of our pre-season training because it gives us a chance to build team synergy and cohesion. We are also looking at improving the team’s technical, tactical and mental aspect,” Okere said.

He added that they left Nairobi with players at around 60 per cent fitness level and hopes to push them to their limits in the next one week.

The tactician believes the three high profile friendlies will show where they are as a team.

The matches will give Okere the opportunity to watch his new signings and also gauge his best 11.

Tusker's new signings are Dennis Wanjala, Erick Balecho, Jacob Onyango, Joseph Ochuka, Thomas Omole and Alex Onchwari.

Others are Ugandans Boban Zirintusa and George Kaddu.

“The camp is full and mood is positive in terms of what we want to achieve in pre-season. The programme we have set is to win because winning is key for us and we expect tough matches,” Okere said.

The brewers hammered Sam West 4-0, at the back of another 3-0 victory over Dandora Combined in two local friendlies last week before departing for Uganda.

The team will have one day rest before battling Uganda Cup champions, Kitara FC, at Masindi Stadium on Thursday, before completing the tour with a duel against newly promoted side Lugazi FC at the Lugazi Stadium on Saturday.

All matches will kick off at 4pm.
