The newly appointed Gor Mahia FC head coach Leonardo Martins Neiva has said he will not entertain jokers in the club.

In an interview on Tuesday, Neiva urged Gor Mahia players to push above their weight, stressing the need to take each training session seriously.

The blunt-talking Brazilian vowed to make the best out of each player.

"My style of coaching is very intense. I'm a flexible guy and very open but also, I need to be tough and expect the players to take every training session seriously as they do in the games. That's my message to them," Neiva remarked.

Neiva spoke a day after being unveiled by K'Ogalo who are eyeing their maiden Caf Champions League title after punching a ticket as Kenyan representatives.

He joins the record Kenyan champions on a two-year deal to replace Johnathan McKinstry who has since taken up a role as head coach of the Gambia national team.

"My coaching philosophy encourages a physical game with a fast transition. Modern football requires a great deal of speed and organisation," he added.

Neiva promised to build upon the foundation established by his predecessor Johnathan McKinstry.

"Johnathan did an amazing job at the club and we are ready to take it from where he left. We can't just come here and change everything at once.

"We shall gradually implement my philosophy until it finally gets into place," he added.

The immediate former Sofapaka head coach Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno has been enlisted to deputise the Brazilian alongside Michael Nam, who served as McKinstry's assistant.

The decorated tactician, 46, boasts impressive coaching credentials, stemming from successful stints with clubs and national teams.

He guided Tanzania's Young Africans SC to both the Tanzanian Super Cup and the 2014/15 Premier League titles.

His latest stint was at Uganda Premier League side Vipers SC. where he was relieved of his duties in December after just six months in charge.
