NCBA Bank has teed off 2025 with a game-changing Sh60 million investment aimed at transforming the golfing landscape in Kenya and the region.
The bank’s ambitious golf agenda will include the 5th edition of the NCBA Golf Series, renewed partnerships with key stakeholders including Kenya Golf Union (KGU) and the Junior Golf Foundation (JGF) and its first-ever collaboration with the Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK).
This robust backing encompasses all levels of the sport, from nurturing junior talent to elevating professional golf.
Through strategic partnerships, the Kenya Golf Union (KGU) has received Sh6 million to host the 2025 Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) Series, set to tee off on January 24th at Sigona.
The Junior Golf Foundation (JGF) has been allocated Sh12 million to organise junior events, nurturing budding golfers and expanding access to the sport.
Meanwhile, PGK received an initial Sh1.2 million to bolster professional programmes.
The NCBA Golf Series will feature 41 qualifiers throughout the year, with Vet-Lab Sports hosting the opening leg on January 25th before traversing the region.
In total, 159 NCBA-sponsored events will take place across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda, a leap from 130 in 2024.
Notably, junior golfers will benefit from 49 events in Kenya, 22 in Uganda and three in Tanzania.
Rwanda is scheduled to host its first junior event and golf clinic.
Speaking during the launch of the 2025 golf calendar at the Kenya Railway Golf Club, NCBA Group managing director John Gachora emphasised the bank’s vision.
“We are excited to launch the 2025 NCBA Golf activities, re-affirming our commitment to growing golf in Kenya and beyond.”
“Over the last five years, our tournaments have showcased exceptional talent, including a junior golfer recently scoring an impressive 10-under par. By investing in junior tournaments, training programs, and mentorship, we are securing the future of golf,” Gachora said.
KGU Chairman David Ndungu praised the bank’s unwavering support.
“As the Kenya Golf Union, we are delighted to continue
our partnership with NCBA. The KAGC Series provides
amateur golfers with a competitive platform. NCBA’s
backing ensures we continue to nurture talent and elevate the sport in Kenya and beyond.”
