A fisherman at Litare Beach in Rusinga Island, Homa Bay has allegedly died by suicide after a disagreement with his wife over missing Sh9,000 cash.

It was reported that 28-year-old David Ochieng had lost the cash in the house, a situation that brought about a heated argument between the couple.

The deceased allegedly accused his wife of stealing the money from the place where he is said to have hidden it.

According to Litare Beach Management Unit Chairman Isaiah Pero, Ochieng hanged himself from the rooftop of his rented house hours later in the absence of his wife.

"Ochieng has always threatened to take away his life every time he had a disagreement with his wife," he said.

The deceased body was discovered later by a neighbour who alerted the beach officials and the police.

The chairman suspected Ochieng might have taken his life after returning home later and found his house empty and the wife missing.

The body was taken to Kirindo Morgue awaiting postmortem.
