Two suspects have been lynched in Rachuonyo North subcounty, Homa Bay, after they were found stealing from a shop.

The criminals were killed in the Adiedo trading centre by members of the public using crude weapons.

Kanyaluo North location chief Shardack Ndege said the two men had gained entry into a boutique with intentions of stealing shoes and clothes.

As they were about to leave, a passerby heard a commotion and raised an alarm.

Residents of the area immediately gathered at the scene and descended on the criminals with weapons.

Ndege said the men were to be picked up by a car after they had finished their mission.

According to the administrator, it is the third time burglars have broken into the same shop.

Ndege said other traders have reported losing their wares frequently when criminals break into their shops.

“Cases of insecurity is affecting investment in the trading centre,” he said.

He warned members of the public against taking the law into their own hands.

“The criminals would have revealed who they operate with and police would have combed out other members of the criminal group,” Ndege said
