A nominated senator yesterday denied claims before a Mombasa court that she had an extra marital affairs with a Mombasa activist.
Nominated senator Emma Mbura told senior principal magistrate Francis Kyambia that she had never had or even dreamt of having a relationship with Kalinga Mgandi,a man accused of defaming her.
Mgandi's confession of love affair with the senator landed him in court in March where he was charged with improper use of a licensed telecommunications gadget.
He allegedly sent abusive audio clips stating Mbura is fond of snatching other women's husbands.
“You are not woman enough if you are sleeping with your children, snatching other women's husbands using charms. All men in this forum be careful with this harlot/beast ,” read part of the charge sheet.
Mbura said the whole insults were politically instigated by the just concluded Malindi by-election which had unraveled the activist cum politician Mgandi as a CORD sycophant within Jubilee party.
She said that she had questioned Mgandi's support for CORD and governor Hassan Joho yet he claimed he was a strong supporter of Jubilee party.
“I told him he was like a snake cause he claims to support us yet he was supporting someone else, this did not go down ell with him that's when he started hurling insults on whatsapp groups we shared,”said Mbura.
Kyambia was forced to stop the audios from being played at the court as they were obscene and contained vulgar words.
Mgandi allegedly recorded seven audios which he sent to four different whatsapp groups.
The Rabai parliamentary aspirant revealed that the scandal has affected her family especially her children who have turned to a laughing stalk by their friends and neighbors.
Mbura further noted her dignity as woman was damaged and she can no longer stand in front of people who took her as their role model.
“I was and am still physiological, physically and emotionally affected by the Mgandi's claims which went viral allover the world,”she said.
She noted that her ambitions to vie for a parliamentary seat in Rabai were hurt and damaged.
The case was adjourned and it will be heard on December 11.
