Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has said that he has ambitions to become the Bungoma governor.
The MP said if he completes his PhD studies, he will give a stab at the governor's seat.
He spoke on Friday during an interview with the press in Tongaren Constituency, Bungoma North Subcounty.
Barasa stated in the next five years he is scheduled to complete the construction of the storey buildings in all schools in the Kimilili Constituency.
“I don’t want to rush into vying for a bigger seat in 2027, I want to work harder to ensure that before the 2027 general elections, I would be ready to go for it,” he said.
He added, “I want to leave a legacy in Kimilili, all schools in my constituency will be storey buildings”.
The UDA MP said that nobody will be sourced from outside to come and lead as the governor.
“I have heard rumours that there are people planning to come and vie for the gubernatorial position here in Bungoma that won’t work, we want someone whom we have seen his work delivery,” Barasa said.
The second term MP called on governor Ken Lusaka to establish a good rapport with the Members of the County Assembly so that he finds it easy to work for the electorates.
“We don’t want to see MCA’s engaging in fights with the governor and his executives, Bungoma people have high expectations from the governor,” Barasa said.
The Kenya Kwanza MP also asked governor Lusaka to invest in Primary health care (PHC) to ensure that locals are accessing quality healthcare.
