Former UDA vice chairman Kipruto Kirwa has advised President William Ruto to cease reminding Kenyans that he won fairly in the last elections.

Speaking on Wednesday, Kirwa said that the often reminder might lower his legitimacy.

"We are not questioning the legality of William Ruto being President, but he is likely to lose legitimacy by emphasizing that we won fair and square," he said.

Kirwa argued that the constant reminder might cost him re-election if he intends to vie in 2027.

"If you have nothing to fear about your win, don't tell people that you won fair and square, you will never be elected. Why are you reminding us? People will start questioning whether you went through the right process," he said.

President Ruto has maintained that he won the August polls fair and square and told Azimio leader Raila Odinga to stop his talk about rigging.

Ruto who has been publicly announcing his victory said both he and Raila should look forward to another election and not the endless chatter about bygones.

The President said given time, he would defeat Raila again in a free and fair poll.

"But now that I am in power, let me be allowed to work with those elected to move the country forward. Elections are behind us, and as I promised earlier, I trashed him early and hard," Ruto said.
