Some 48 students are set to embark on a remarkable journey to China to enhance their studies in various sectors.
The students were awarded scholarships in certificate, diploma, undergraduate and degree programmes for four years.
On Thursday, the Chinese Embassy held a sendoff ceremony for the students, to wish them well as they unlock new potentials.
The students were warmly welcomed and served Chinese food, drinks and cultural practices.
Minister Counsellor and new Deputy Chief of Mission at the Chinese Embassy Zhang Zhizhong urged the students to explore China and enjoy themselves while on their stay.
"Go to China with your questions, curiosities and find the answers with your own eyes. You are the future of Kenya and I hope you can apply what you have learned in China and contribute to Kenya's development as well as the corporation of China and Kenya for the next 60 years," Zhizhong said.
In attendance, the chairman of the Kenya-China Alumni Association Henry Rotich urged the students to embrace every opportunity and immerse themselves in Chinese rich culture, food and connect with fellow students worldwide.
“As you embark on this journey, remember that you represent yourselves, your families, our association, and our beloved nation. You are our ambassadors to China and should communicate the very best of Kenya when you arrive in China,” Rotich said.
“Your experiences will not only shape your personal growth but also contribute to the greater good of Kenya.”
He said the benefits of learning Chinese and experiencing China's educational system contribute to Kenya’s vision of a stronger and more prosperous country.
“Studying in China offers an unparalleled educational experience. The country's rapid growth and technological advancements have positioned it as a global leader in innovation and research,” Rotich said.
Hassan Ibrahim a student from Mandera County was awarded a scholarship to pursue PhD in Education at Huan in China and will be specialising in education technology.
He assured that the scholarship will provide a positive impact to the new Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).
“It is a great opportunity for me and also for the nation to get such privileges to pursue our dreams abroad,” Ibrahim said.
“China being one of the countries that is advancing in technology, innovation and research, it is going to have a lot of positive advantages or impact in our education system once we come back to the country after the four years of our studies.”
