The government has vowed to continue addressing cross-border security issues in the country.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki on Tuesday announced that criminal gangs terrorizing Busia residents have their days numbered.

As a result, he ordered Busia County and Sub-Counties Security and Intelligence Committees to track, apprehend, and prosecute criminal gangs terrorising citizens.

"Security officers in Busia County and other parts of the Country where organised criminal gangs are terrorising innocent citizens are directed to ruthlessly crackdown on these elements and their leaders," Kindiki stated.

The Interior chief emphasised that the government will firmly and decisively deal with cross-border security issues to enhance trade and peaceful coexistence between Kenya and her neighbours.

"The Government has zero tolerance for criminal elements and assures citizens of their safety and security," Kindiki added.

To ease congestion in border towns, reduce traffic accidents, and boost trade between Kenya and other East Africa Community member states, the CS said that the government will prioritise the dualling of the Eldoret-Bungoma-Malaba road.

Going further, the Interior CS pledged that more administrative units would be established to bring services closer to the people.

He urged all National Government Administration Officers to serve citizens with dedication and courtesy.

Kindiki noted that any officer demanding bribes will not only be liable to administrative action but prosecuted in accordance with the law.

He therefore cautioned (NGAOS) against engaging in politics but focus on service delivery to the people.

Kindiki stated that their main task is ensuring the implementation of government projects at the grassroots.

“Public Officers must carry out, public civic education on our people on government programmes and government policy priorities and not engage in politics,” he said

Kindiki further appealed to the political leaders across the country to refrain from involving NGAO officials in their political fights, emphasizing the need to maintain the separation of service delivery and political activities.

The CS was speaking after he officially opened Teso North Sub-County Headquarters and Kamolo Division Headquarters.

Kindiki also presided over the operationalization of Teso Central Sub-County, Busia County and installed Jack Orare as the first Deputy County Commissioner.

Busia County Deputy Governor Arthur Odera, Teso South MP Mary Emase, Teso North MP Oku Kaunya, Principal Administrative Secretary, Executive Office of the President Arthur Osiya, and other National Government and County Government officials were also in attendance.
