National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has called on leaders from Western Kenya to support President William Ruto’s transformation agenda.
Speaking during the burial of Alfred Nakitare in Ndivisi ward, Webuye East Constituency, Bungoma County, Wetang'ula emphasised the significance of recently launched Universal Health Coverage.
He highlighted the importance of the UHC and quality health service delivery to the people of Kenya.
The National Assembly Speaker noted government's commitment to providing financial assistance for indigent individuals to ensure the most vulnerable members of society can access quality healthcare.
Wetang’ula noted that free treatment for chronic illnesses and accidents, including those involved in boda boda accidents, as a crucial aspect of healthcare accessibility following the enactment of the four health bills.
He also commended President Ruto's reduction of cost of fertiliser, which benefits farmers in the region and across the country.
The Speaker said this will enable farmers reap the benefits during harvest and prepare for the upcoming planting season.
"The reduction of fertilisers cost from Sh6,000 to Sh2,500 by President Ruto provides an affordable option for farmers," Wetang’ula said.
He noted that this is why the region’s leadership should support Ruto in delivering his promises to Kenyans.
Speaker Wetang'ula remembered Nakitare as a dedicated member of the Ford Kenya Party.
"In his memory, we draw inspiration from the Holy Bible, which reminds us not to grieve for him, as he has found eternal peace and is now following the path that God had destined for him," he mourned.
The burial ceremony was attended by a host of leaders, including Bungoma Senator David Wakoli, area MP Martin Wanyonyi (Webuye East), John Chikati (Tongaren),Didmus Baraza (Kimilili), and John Makali (Kanduyi).
Bungoma Woman Rep Catherine Wambilianga, Martin Owino (MP Dhiwa), as well as members of the county Assembly and Ford Kenya party officials alongside other local leaders were also present.
