Embattled Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza faces a moment of truth on Wednesday when the County Assembly debates and takes a vote on her impeachment motion.

The MCAs on Monday completed mandatory public participation hearings in nine sub-counties and retreated to write a final report that will be tabled in the Assembly on Wednesday.

This will be the second time in less than a year that the county assembly is seeking to impeach the governor who was saved by the Senate in December 2022.

Kawira is accused of gross misconduct, misappropriation of county funds and usurpation of the law and the constitution among other allegations.

Suspect in Maigo murder case to know fate

The main suspect in the murder of Nairobi Hospital Finance Officer Eric Maigo is set to know whether she will be charged or not as the prosecution is set to close its miscellaneous file today.

The 16-year-old was arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts last month where police obtained orders to have her detained for 21 days pending further probe on the matter.

The minor was arrested following a report of murder at Woodley Annex in Kibera.

Court to give direction on contempt proceedings against EABL bosses

Justice Chacha Mwita is to give directions on applications challenging contempt proceedings against East African Breweries Limited (EABL) bosses in a protracted legal battle with its former distributor, Bia Tosha.
