President William Ruto has reunited with former Cabinet Secretary at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mining John Munyes.

Ruto was with Munyes in Jubilee but he left the then ruling party for UDA, which nominated him for presidency in the 2022 elections.

Munyes was among CSs who resigned from the previous government to venture into politics but lost in the polls.

Munyes, who was a Jubilee candidate, wanted to succeed outgoing Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok, currently State House Deputy Chief of Staff.

Jeremiah Ekamais of Orange Democratic Movement won the election garnering 46.44 per cent of the vote followed by United Democratic Alliance’s John Lodepe (29.18 per cent) and Munyes (23.44 per cent).

Ruto, who was the chief guest at the Turkana Tourism and Cultural Festival, Tobong'u Lore in Lodwar on Friday, offered an olive branch to Munyes during the ceremony.

“Do you think I should find room for Munyes and Lodepe in my administration,” Ruto asked locals.

Ruto said he had all along wanted to incorporate them in his administration but chose to first bring on board a woman from the region; East African Community, ASALs, and Regional Development Cabinet Secretary Beatrice Askul.

He added that he also considered former Turkana County Assembly Speaker Erastus Ekitela Lokaale for Permanent Representative to the United Nations position.

“It is now time for me to consider Munyes and Lokaale and the youth from Turkana,” he said.

The President said he will enrol youth in the area to Kazi Mtaani programme.

Kazi Mtaani is a government initiative formulated to help uplift the community by offering job opportunities to Kenyan youth.

The youth empowerment program is operational in all 47 counties of Kenya and has benefited more than 200,000 individuals since it began in 2020.

Ruto said Munyes was very much welcome in his administration.

“I want Munyes to come here and stand by my side. Do you want the two of us to work together? Do you want us to work as a team?” he posed.
