JLAC to meet Kenyans in Diaspora group
National Assembly’s Justice and Legal Affairs Committee is scheduled to meet Kenyans in the Diaspora, a technical working group representing different Kenyan communities living in the diaspora.
The group will present its proposals on amending the Elections Act to enable Kenyans in all jurisdictions the right to register and vote in Kenyan Elections.
Probe ongoing on Kiambu murders
Police are probing an incident where a man died by suicide in Kiambu, and the wife was found murdered.
An emaciated child was found playing next to his mother’s body hours after she had died in a house in the Karinde area, Kikuyu, Kiambu County.
The mother is believed to have been killed by the boy’s father who later died by suicide.
Both bodies were Sunday, November 17 evening discovered in the house long after the incident had happened. The house had been locked from inside,
Police said they are investigating murder and suicide in the incident.
Ex-Lake Basin official's graft case
A Magistrates Court will today issue directions in a case in which former executives of Lakin Basin Development Authority are facing Sh4.1 billion corruption charges in relation to the construction of Lake Basin Mall in Kisumu.
The matter is listed before Milimani Anticorruption Magistrate Celesa Okore.
A chief economist who has since testified in the case told the court that the construction of the Mall was married with irregularities.
Richard Mwarema told the then-trial Magistrate Eunice Nyutu that value for money was not properly demonstrated and that the project lacked the necessary approvals for it to commence.
