Siaya woman surrenders after stabbing lover to death

She will be presented to court where police will seek more time to conclude probe.

A 28-year-old woman surrendered to police after she had allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death in an altercation in Mur-Ngiya sub-location, Siaya County.

Police said the incident happened Saturday night when the woman attacked and stabbed her 35-year-old boyfriend Charlton Obare over alleged infidelity.

Police said the deceased arrived home at around 9.00 pm together with his other friend before the girlfriend followed them immediately.

The friend who had accompanied the deceased man left but heard a commotion.

On going back to establish the source of the commotion, the friend spotted the woman leaving in a hurry while the deceased pursued her in pain and bleeding.

He had a stab wound in the chest and collapsed a few meters ahead.

He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.

The woman who is a mother of one later surrendered to Siaya Police Station.

Police said they had not established the motive of the incident but had heard reports the woman accused the man of infidelity.

Police said they will present her to court for a miscellaneous application to detain her pending further probe into the incident.

A team visited the scene and recovered exhibits including the killer's weapon, police said.

The body was moved to a local mortuary pending autopsy and other procedures.

Meanwhile, a 71-year-old man was shot and killed in a village in Kuria, Migori County.

The incident happened in Bwirege East Location at the Transmara and Migori common border and involved one Tobias Marwa Chacha, police said.

He was shot while grazing his cattle at Regisuma Grazing Field, which is located along the common boundary.

According to police, the man was shot in the head, hips, and left hand, and died instantly.

His grandchild, who was also present, was shot in the thighs and was rushed to Migori County Referral Hospital in critical condition.

Police visited the scene and moved the body to the Kegonga Wima Hospital Morgue for a postmortem examination.

The motive for the murder appears to be a land dispute along the common border between Transmara South and Ntimaru sub-county.

There has been tension among the communities in the area and at times it escalates to killings, injuries and stealing of livestock.

Elsewhere in Kileleshwa, Nairobi, a 58-year-old man was found dead on a chair in his house.

Police were called and informed the deceased identified as Joseph Muinde Mutuku was found dead by his daughter who has been staying with him.

The cause of the death is yet to be known so far.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy, police said.
