Two Cabinet Secretaries who President Wiliam Ruto reshuffled in the latest cabinet changes have reacted to the developments.
Former Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya who was moved from the Trade and Industry docket to take charge of the Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports ministry said he was honoured.
This is the second time that Mvurya has been moved after he was again transferred from the Ministry of Blue Economy and Mining after President Rut dissolved his Cabinet.
"I am eager to collaborate with stakeholders to empower the youth through employment and skills development, spur the creative economy to drive innovation and job creation and promote sports as a tool for national unity and economic growth," Mvurya said on his X account.
" It is a privilege to continue serving the people of Kenya, and I look forward to contributing to the nation’s development in this new capacity while advancing the realization of the Kenya Kwanza Manifesto."
Former Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who was moved from the Youth, Creative Economy and Sports said he was grateful for the reassignment.
Murkomen was named the new Interior and National Administration CS, taking over from Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.
Kindiki held the portfolio since the 2022 polls but was named DP after Rigathi Gachagua was impeached.
"I’m grateful and honoured to have been reassigned by His Excellency the President, as the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Interior and National Administration,'' Murkomen posted on his X account.
"Thank you, Mr. President, for this incredible opportunity to serve our great nation in this capacity. I look forward to supporting the President in delivering on his national security and administration agenda."
Murkomen said that he would undertake to serve with honour and dignity and to "perform the functions of my office to the best of my ability."
The reassignment of Murkomen to the influential portfolio of interior shows the confidence the President has in the former Elgeyo Marakwet Senator.
At the height of Ruto's falling out with his then-boss Uhuru Kenyatta ahead of the 2022 polls, Murkomen paid the ultimate political price when he was hounded out of office as Senate Majority Leader.
Despite the purge by then-President Uhuru, Murkomen remained one of Ruto's most loyal and trusted allies.
