The body of a four-year-old boy who was missing was found in a sack and dumped in a pit latrine in the Rongai area, Nakuru County.

Police revealed the boy’s mother is a person of interest in the murder.

According to police, she had been missing from her home in Olrongai Kichwa area after the Thursday, January 23 night incident.

According to police, the woman went missing with the four-year-old boy from the home before the body was discovered in the family pit latrine a day later.

Police revealed that her elder son aged six was found unconscious in the house after he had swallowed several tablets.

The elder son told police his mother gave him the tablets to swallow before he went to sleep.

The motive was not immediately established.

It was then that the woman left with the younger son and it is not clear what happened later on.

A neighbour told police the woman asked for a sack from him to help her carry a luggage she had.

Little did he know it was the body of the minor.

A search was conducted in the compound before it ended up at the pit latrine that was in use.

According to police, the sack was retrieved from the family latrine and the body of the boy was discovered therein.

Police said the body had visible strangulation marks on the neck indicating he was strangled.

The body was moved to the local mortuary pending autopsy.

Police said a hunt for the woman is ongoing for grilling and processing.

"We have witnesses making claims on her and we want to establish more on this. Let her surrender," said regional police commander Jasper Ombati.

Elsewhere in Kikopey, Gilgil, the body of one Francis Wanyoike was found in a bush after a suspected murder.

Mwangi did not spend the night at home on January 18 which raised concern with his wife who said she later found a group gathered on the roadside.

She later realized it was her husband who had an injury on the head after he had been attacked by unknown people during a robbery.

He was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to the injuries, police said.
